About Ondo Finance
Ondo tokenises short term US government debt. OUSG holds treasury ETFs and USDY is a yield bearing note backed by treasuries and bank deposits, both issued as tokens that settle on chain and pay their yield there.
The appeal is plain: a treasury yield reachable from a wallet, without a brokerage account. ONDO launched in January 2024 with an allocation to CoinList sale participants from 2022 and to the early users of those products.
Airdrop Stats
How it worked to get the Ondo Finance airdrop
Take part in the 2022 CoinList sale
Sale participants formed a defined group with a clear claim, unusually for a distribution of this size.
Or hold OUSG or USDY
Users of the tokenised treasury products qualified through holding them rather than through any points campaign.
Clear the eligibility checks
These are regulated instruments, so qualification involved requirements most crypto distributions do not carry.
Claim ONDO from 18 January 2024
The token opened trading the same day at roughly sixteen cents.
Was the Ondo Finance airdrop worth it?
- It rewarded holding, not farming. There was no points dashboard and no campaign to optimise. Eligibility came from having bought in the sale or used the products, which is a much narrower and less gameable group.
- The category was early. In 2022 and 2023 tokenised treasuries were a niche argument. ONDO's holders were positioned before real world assets became a widely traded theme.
- Access was never open to everyone. Regulated products carry eligibility restrictions, so a meaningful share of the audience that wanted exposure could not obtain it.
