PixieChess is a Web3 chess game that mixes classic chess with trading-card mechanics ,think Magic: The Gathering meets chess. Every piece can carry a unique magical power: a knight that jumps off the board, a pawn that wins the moment it reaches the other side, invisibility, move rewinds, and more. Because the custom pieces make chess engines useless, the game sidesteps the AI-cheating problem that plagues online chess.

Its economy is player-funded and deflationary. New pieces are sold daily through a Dutch-auction mechanism, and revenue flows directly into tournament prize pools ,the launch vault started at 82.95 ETH. To enter tournaments, players burn their pieces, permanently removing them from circulation so the metagame keeps shifting. Built by Paradigm Entrepreneur-in-Residence Josh Harris, it's positioned as a game first that happens to run on crypto rails.
