About BLUR
Blur is a professional NFT marketplace on Ethereum built for serious traders, not casual collectors. Founded by Tieshun Roquerre (known as Pacman) in 2022, it replaced the retail-first experience of OpenSea with zero fees, real-time price data, and tools built for high-volume trading.
It grew fast. Within two months of launch it overtook OpenSea in weekly trading volume. By early 2024 it was processing over 75% of all NFT trades globally.
In May 2023 it launched Blend, a peer-to-peer lending protocol that lets NFT holders borrow ETH against their collections without selling. At its peak, Blend controlled over 90% of the NFT lending market.
The BLUR token launched on Valentine's Day 2023, distributing 360 million tokens to over 146,000 wallets through its Care Package system. It invented the multi-season airdrop model that has since been copied across DeFi, rewarding traders not just once but across ongoing seasons tied to platform activity.

Blur gave the majority to its community at 51%, distributed through seasonal airdrop programs rewarding NFT traders, listers, and bidders. Core contributors hold 28.92% on a vesting schedule, investors take 18.85%, and advisors receive a lean 1.23%. Of the 51% community allocation, 12% (360 million BLUR) was unlocked immediately at TGE via Season 1 Care Packages. The remaining 39% continues to be distributed through ongoing incentive programs, governance grants, and future airdrop seasons.

Was the BLUR airdrop worth it?
Yes, but only if you sold fast.
- The Blur airdrop was the most generous NFT-focused airdrop in history at $1.8B distributed. But the token dropped 84% within 24 hours of launch. Those who sold at the $5.02 open captured life-changing returns. Those who held watched most of that value disappear within a single day.
- For zero-effort Season 1 recipients who had simply traded NFTs before the snapshot, any price they sold at was pure profit. Active Season 1 bidders and listers with high point allocations received 10,000 to 100,000+ BLUR, worth $50,000 to $500,000 at open.
- Season 2 rewarded even more generously. One user alone claimed $11 million in BLUR. But by that point the token was already well below its ATH, meaning the real winners were again the fast sellers.
- The honest lesson from Blur is simple. The airdrop itself was exceptional. The token was not built to hold.
