About Pixels
Pixels is a browser based farming and social game that started on Polygon and moved to Ronin, the chain Sky Mavis built for Axie Infinity. It became the most played game on Ronin, and PIXEL arrived as an ERC-20 on Ethereum even though the game itself runs elsewhere, a split that confused plenty of people at launch.
The airdrop is unusual for how far back it reached. The 5% general allocation went to three groups: people who played the October 2022 pre alpha, users active in the five weeks before the token generation event, and holders of BERRY, the in game currency. Rewarding a pre alpha from sixteen months earlier is a long memory by airdrop standards, and it meant early players who had drifted away were still paid.
There were two other tracks running alongside. Binance Launchpool took 7% of supply, larger than the community airdrop itself. Separately, 20 million PIXEL went to RON stakers off an 8 February snapshot, split into a tranche at launch and another a month later, banded into four tiers paying from 183 PIXEL to just under 4,000.

How it worked to get the Pixels airdrop
Play the pre alpha, back in 2022
The earliest qualifying activity was the October 2022 pre alpha. Those players were still credited when the token arrived sixteen months later.
Or be active before the TGE
Activity in the five weeks immediately before the token generation event also qualified, which gave latecomers a genuine route in rather than shutting the door on them.
Or hold BERRY
BERRY, the in game currency, counted as its own qualifying route. Holding it meant an allocation without needing to match either of the activity windows.
Or stake RON
A separate 20 million PIXEL went to Ronin stakers off the 8 February 2024 snapshot, in four tiers paying between 183.34 and 3,955.11 PIXEL depending on the size of the stake.
Receive at TGE
The community allocation was fully unlocked on 19 February 2024 with no vesting. RON stakers took half at launch and the rest a month later.
Was the Pixels airdrop worth it?
- Fully unlocked at TGE, no vesting. The entire 5% community allocation was liquid on day one. In a year where most projects vested everything, Pixels simply paid.
- It remembered players from sixteen months earlier. Crediting the October 2022 pre alpha is a longer lookback than almost any airdrop of the period, and it rewarded people who had long since stopped playing.
- Three ways to qualify, including holding the in game currency. Pre alpha history, recent activity or BERRY holdings each worked on their own. You did not have to satisfy all of them.
- Binance got more than the community did. Launchpool took 7% of supply against the airdrop's 5%. Worth knowing when the distribution is described as community led.
- The debut was liquid and volatile. PIXEL opened at a $441M market cap with $1.2B of volume in the days after, so recipients had no trouble exiting, at prices that moved fast.
