Event Timeline
About Zora
Zora is a creator network built on Base, where posts are minted as tokens and creators earn from the trading that follows. It began as an NFT protocol in 2020 and spent five years accumulating minting history before any token existed.
That history is what the airdrop measured. Phase one reached all the way back to 1 January 2020, which means the qualifying behaviour for most recipients happened years before a distribution was on anyone's mind. A second phase covered the seven weeks between the token generation event and the claim opening, catching people who arrived once the token was already public.

How it worked to get the Zora airdrop
Mint or collect on Zora
Creating and collecting were both qualifying actions. Activity counted from 1 January 2020, so long dormant wallets were eligible on work done years earlier.
Keep creating through phase one
Phase one ran to 3 March 2025. Sustained activity across that window carried more weight than a single mint.
Or arrive during phase two
A second window ran from 3 March to 20 April 2025, after the token already existed, which gave newer users a smaller route in.
Claim from 23 April 2025
The claim opened with no announced deadline, unusually generous next to the one month windows most distributions use.
Was the Zora airdrop worth it?
- It rewarded genuine history. Counting activity from January 2020 meant the largest allocations went to people who used Zora years before a token was plausible, which no amount of late farming could replicate.
- Two phases, two very different cohorts. Phase one paid the archive, phase two paid people who showed up after the token generation event. They were not competing for the same pool on the same terms.
- Only 10% went to the community. Investors took 26% and the team 19%, so the airdrop was a minority slice of a supply weighted toward insiders.
- No claim deadline. Still claimable, which removes the forfeiture risk that caught out Safe claimants in 2022.
