Blast Airdrop Timeline
About Blast
Blast launched with an unusual sequence: deposits opened months before the chain did. Users bridged ETH into a contract that earned yield, accruing points toward a future distribution, and several billion dollars arrived before there was anything to actually use.
The June 2024 distribution paid out on those points, and on Blast Gold, a separate allocation routed through applications building on the chain so that developers could direct rewards to their own users.
The approach was widely criticised as a deposit race with lock up risk, and equally widely copied. It marks the point where points programmes became the default pre launch mechanic rather than a novelty.
Airdrop Stats

Blast's 100-billion supply gives 50% to the community, split between broader ecosystem/future initiatives (~33%) and the 17% Phase 1 airdrop (17B BLAST). That airdrop went live June 26, 2024, distributing ~$415M at a $0.0244 launch price to Blast Points holders (7%), Blast Gold holders (7%), and Blur Foundation users (3%). Insiders hold 42% Core Contributors 25.48% and Investors 16.52% with the Blast Foundation at 8%. Blast is an Ethereum L2 with native ETH and stablecoin yield, founded by Pacman (Tieshun Roquerre, of Blur) and backed by Paradigm and Standard Crypto.

How it worked to get the Blast airdrop
Bridge in before mainnet existed
Deposits opened in November 2023, months before the chain was usable, and earned points from the moment they landed.
Accumulate points through the deposit period
Points accrued on the size and duration of the deposit, which is what made the early months a deposit race.
Use apps to earn Blast Gold
A separate allocation was routed through applications on the chain, letting teams direct rewards to their own users.
Claim BLAST from 26 June 2024
The distribution paid out against both points and Gold.
Was the Blast airdrop worth it?
- The deposits came before the product. Several billion dollars bridged in months before the chain was usable, earning points toward a distribution that did not yet exist. Whether that was a fair trade depends on how the lock up period is judged.
- Blast Gold pushed rewards through applications. A separate allocation let teams building on the chain direct rewards to their own users, which spread the distribution wider than a single points formula would have.
- It normalised the points race. Widely criticised and just as widely copied, this is the launch after which pre token points programmes became the default rather than a novelty.
