About Linea
Linea is a zkEVM rollup built by Consensys, the company behind MetaMask and Infura, which gave it an unusually direct route to users from the day it launched.
The September 2025 distribution paid out against two long campaigns. Voyage ran early, rewarding wallets that worked through structured on chain tasks, and Surge followed as a liquidity programme aimed at getting capital onto the chain and keeping it there.
The wait between those campaigns and the token was long by the standards of the period, and the distribution closed one of the last large outstanding Layer 2 launches.
Airdrop Stats
Linea's tokenomics are deliberately Ethereum-aligned and community-first: of the 72,009,990,000 LINEA total supply, a full 85% goes to the ecosystem with zero allocation for team, investors, or insiders a rare structure among major L2s. The 75% Long-Term Ecosystem Fund unlocks over 10 years (front-loaded, tapering to 2%/yr by year 10), while the 10% early-contributor tranche (9% early users + 1% strategic builders) unlocked fully at the TGE. The only non-ecosystem slice is the 15% Consensys Treasury, locked for five years. ETH remains the gas token, and a dual-burn destroys both ETH and LINEA from network revenue.

Was the Linea airdrop worth it?
- The wait was unusually long. Voyage ran in 2023 and Surge through 2024, but the token did not arrive until September 2025. Participants held expectations for close to two years.
- Consensys gave it an unusual route to users. MetaMask and Infura sit under the same roof, so the chain launched with distribution most new rollups have to build from nothing.
- It closed out the Layer 2 backlog. By September 2025 it was one of the last large outstanding rollup launches, and the distribution read as the end of a cycle rather than the start of one.
