About Scroll
Scroll is a zkEVM rollup on Ethereum, bytecode-compatible, so contracts deploy without modification. Mainnet opened in October 2023 and the Marks programme measured on-chain activity through the year that followed.
What set the distribution apart was that the arithmetic was published rather than described. A 200-Mark floor defined eligibility, a proportional pool rewarded accumulated activity, and a flat boost split equally across every eligible wallet meant that clearing the floor guaranteed a payout regardless of size.
Airdrop Stats

The flat boost, and why it mattered
Scroll split its first airdrop three ways. Forty million SCR went out in proportion to Marks earned, which is the conventional model and rewards whoever spent the most. Ten million went out as a flat boost, divided equally among every eligible wallet.
That second pool is the unusual part. It meant clearing the 200 Mark floor guaranteed a payout regardless of how small the wallet was, so the distribution did not round its long tail down to nothing. A further five million went to behaviour off Scroll entirely, including ENS ownership and donations to Gitcoin and JuiceBox.

How it worked to get the Scroll airdrop
Bridge to Scroll and transact
Marks accrued from on-chain activity across the mainnet year. Holding assets and using protocols both counted.
Clear 200 Marks by 19 October 2024
The floor for the main pool. 40M SCR, 4% of supply, was shared proportionally among everyone above it.
Collect the flat boost
A further 10M SCR, 1% of supply, was split equally across all eligible on-chain participants, so a small wallet that qualified was not rounded to nothing.
Qualify for the bonuses
5M SCR went to ENS holders, Gitcoin and JuiceBox donors and smart contract wallet users, rewarding behaviour off Scroll entirely.
Was the Scroll airdrop worth it?
- The formula was public. A stated Marks floor, a proportional pool and a flat boost, unusually legible next to distributions that described criteria only in prose.
- The flat boost protected small wallets. 1% of supply split equally meant clearing 200 Marks guaranteed a payout, which is the opposite of a purely proportional model.
- It paid for civic behaviour off-chain of itself. Gitcoin and JuiceBox donations and ENS ownership each carried weight, reaching people who had never optimised for Scroll.
- A long claim window. 90 days, closing 20 January 2025, generous against the one-month norm.
