About ether.fi
ether.fi is a liquid restaking protocol on Ethereum. Deposit ETH, receive eETH, and the underlying stake is restaked through EigenLayer while the receipt token stays liquid and usable across DeFi.
Its distinguishing claim is non custodial staking: the depositor controls the validator keys rather than handing them to the operator, which was unusual for liquid staking at the time. Season 1 allocated ETHFI against loyalty points accrued by holding eETH and weETH from late 2023.
Airdrop Stats
How it worked to get the ether.fi airdrop
Deposit ETH for eETH
Holding the liquid receipt token was the qualifying action. Points accrued per token per day, so size and duration both counted.
Hold rather than trade
Points tracked how long eETH stayed in a wallet. Selling reset the clock, which favoured people treating it as a staking position rather than a trade.
Use eETH across DeFi
Approved integrations continued accruing points while the token was deployed elsewhere, so liquidity providers were not penalised for putting it to work.
Claim ETHFI in March 2024
Season 1 opened on 18 March 2024, with a second season running through to June.
Was the ether.fi airdrop worth it?
- It paid people who were early to an unproven idea. Restaking had no track record in late 2023. Depositing eETH then meant accepting EigenLayer's risk model before anyone knew whether it held.
- Duration mattered more than size. Points accrued per token per day, so a modest deposit held throughout beat a large one that arrived late, which is the opposite of how most points races are run.
- Two seasons, not one. Season 2 ran to June 2024 and rewarded continued holding, so the March claim was a checkpoint rather than the end of the programme.
