About Monad

Monad is a Layer 1 built to run EVM bytecode in parallel rather than sequentially, which is a harder engineering problem than it sounds because Ethereum contracts were never written with concurrent execution in mind. It spent years as one of the most heavily farmed testnets in crypto before the token arrived, and the airdrop had to account for a community that had been waiting a long time.

Eligibility ran across five tracks rather than one formula. Alongside the obvious Monad Community and Onchain Users tracks there were separate routes for builders, for the wider crypto community and for contributors, with combined allocations for anyone qualifying through more than one. Monad Foundation described the target as roughly 5,500 core community members plus around 225,000 broader crypto users.

The mechanics separated claiming from receiving. The portal ran from 14 October to 3 November 2025, but claimed tokens went into an escrow contract on 9 November and stayed there until mainnet launched on 24 November. Claiming early bought certainty, not liquidity.

How it worked to get the Monad airdrop

Step 1

Qualify through one of five tracks

Monad Community, Onchain Users, Crypto Community, Monad Builders, and Crypto Contributors or Crypto Curious. Each had its own criteria, and qualifying through several produced a combined allocation.

Step 2

Check the portal from 14 October

The MON Claim Portal opened on 14 October 2025. Eligibility was fixed by then, so this was a checking and claiming exercise rather than a farming one.

Step 3

Claim before 3 November

The window ran three weeks. This is where most of the allocation was lost, since claiming required actively turning up rather than simply being eligible.

Step 4

Wait out the escrow

On 9 November every claimed token was moved into an escrow contract holding it on the claimer's behalf. Nothing was spendable during this period.

Step 5

Receive at mainnet launch

Tokens were released to claimer wallets on 24 November 2025 when Monad public mainnet went live, which was the first moment anyone could use them.

Was the Monad airdrop worth it?

  • Almost 30% of it was never claimed. Monad offered 4.73B MON and 3.33B was collected. Only 76,021 wallets claimed against 289,000 eligible accounts, which is the single most striking number in this distribution.
  • Read the percentage carefully. Coverage saying Monad airdropped 3.3% of supply is quoting what was claimed. The allocation on offer was 4.73%. The gap between those two figures is the unclaimed portion.
  • The people who had farmed hardest turned up. The Monad Community track claimed at 99.7%. Onchain Users claimed at just 41%, so the broad eligibility sweep reached a lot of wallets that never engaged.
  • Claiming did not mean receiving. Claimed tokens sat in escrow from 9 November until mainnet on 24 November. The claim was a registration step, not a payout.
  • Unclaimed supply stayed in circulation plans. The leftover roughly 30% was directed to future ecosystem development rather than burned or returned to reserves.

Why we built Airdrop Meta

Why We Built Airdrop Meta

36 million HYPE tokens went unclaimed over a missed T&C signature. That is $1.2 billion lost to a single update, and one of many such cases.

One overlooked deadline should not cost you a life-changing airdrop. Crypto Twitter is loud; we cut through it so you do not have to.
