About Sapien
Sapien is a decentralised data foundry for AI. The premise is the same one Sahara AI works from: modern models need labelled data, labelling is work, and a network can pay people to do it. Contributors completed tasks, earned points against confirmed output, and those points converted to SAPIEN at the token generation event on Base in August 2025.
The airdrop was 5% of a one billion supply for early contributors, with a further 0.5% reserved for the top 10,000 members of CookieDAO, a partner community. Allocation ran on confirmed points rather than raw submissions, which matters for a labelling network because unverified volume is exactly what a bad actor would produce.
Release was gradual. Contributors received 30% of their earned tokens at the TGE, with the remaining 70% vesting daily across four months. Daily vesting is gentler than a cliff, since there is no single date where a block of supply hits the market, but it still meant someone who had done the work held under a third of it on launch day.
Airdrop Stats
How it worked to get the Sapien airdrop
Complete data labelling tasks
The core route. Tasks on the Sapien platform accrued points, and no capital was required at any stage, only time and accurate work.
Get your work confirmed
Allocation ran on confirmed points rather than submitted volume, so output had to pass validation before it counted toward the airdrop.
Or be a top CookieDAO member
The top 10,000 members of partner community CookieDAO shared a separate 0.5% of supply, with 30% of that allocation unlocked at the TGE.
Receive 30% at the TGE
The token generation event concluded on 20 August 2025 on Base, releasing 30% of each contributor's earned tokens immediately.
Collect the rest daily
The remaining 70% vested daily across four months rather than on a cliff, completing around December 2025.
Was the Sapien airdrop worth it?
- It paid for labour, not capital. Like Sahara AI, the qualifying activity was work. Anyone willing to spend time on labelling tasks could earn regardless of what they had to invest.
- Confirmed points, not submitted volume. Requiring validation before points counted is the right defence for a labelling network, where flooding the system with low quality output is the obvious attack.
- Under a third arrived at launch. 30% at TGE with the rest vesting daily over four months. The headline 5% overstates what contributors actually held in August 2025.
- Daily vesting beats a cliff. Spreading the remaining 70% across four months avoided a single unlock date where supply hits the market at once, which is easier on the price than the alternative.
- Check which unlock figure you are reading. The 25% initial unlock describes total supply circulating at launch. The airdrop's own term was 30% at TGE. They are different numbers for different things.
