About Sentient
Sentient works on open source AI, and the distribution followed that priority closely. The largest share went to people who build, test and share open source intelligence and products, which puts contribution to the commons ahead of capital or attention. Community incentives and airdrops together account for 44% of a 34.36 billion supply, against 12.45% for investors.
The criteria for Sentient Chat users are the unusual part. Rather than counting messages, Sentient assessed whether queries were genuine and helpful, whether activity was consistent across days, and whether feedback reported real issues or proposed meaningful improvements. That is a quality judgement, not a volume metric.
It cuts both ways. Quality criteria cannot be farmed by spamming a chat interface, which is exactly the failure mode a message count invites. They are also opaque. Nobody could calculate their standing in advance, and there is no published threshold to point at if the result disappoints. It trades gameability for discretion, and which of those matters more depends on how much you trust the team applying it.

How it worked to get the Sentient airdrop
Build and share open source work
The largest allocation went to people building, testing and sharing open source intelligence and products. This was the primary route and it required producing something real.
Use Sentient Chat genuinely
Chat users were assessed on whether their queries were genuine and helpful. Volume alone did not qualify, so flooding the interface was not a strategy.
Show up consistently
Activity spread across multiple days counted for more than a concentrated burst, which favoured people actually using the product over those farming a window.
Give useful feedback
Reporting genuine issues and proposing meaningful improvements was explicitly part of the criteria, putting bug reports and product suggestions on the same footing as usage.
Register, then claim from 22 January
Eligibility registration opened ahead of the claim. Registered users could claim their allocation from 22 January 2026.
Was the Sentient airdrop worth it?
- Quality criteria beat volume criteria, with a catch. Judging chat use on whether queries were helpful cannot be gamed by spamming. It is also unmeasurable from outside, so nobody could know where they stood or contest the outcome.
- Open source contribution came first. The largest share went to people building and sharing openly, which is a rarer priority than it should be and worth crediting.
- The community share is high. 44% to community incentives and airdrops against 12.45% to investors is a strong ratio by 2026 standards.
- Check the unlock terms yourself before relying on them. Published reports disagree: one describes 30% at TGE with 70% vesting over four years, another says airdropped tokens fully unlock at TGE. Those cannot both describe the same pool, and this page does not pick between them.
- Registration was required. As with most early 2026 launches, being eligible was not sufficient without completing registration before the claim.
