Wormhole moves assets and messages between chains, and had been doing so at scale since 2021, including through a 2022 exploit of roughly $320M that was covered by its backers rather than passed on to users.
The April 2024 distribution put 617M W into the hands of people who had used the bridge, spanning wallets across Solana, Ethereum and a number of other connected ecosystems. Allocations also went to NFT communities and to developers building on the protocol.
It was one of the largest distributions of a very crowded first half of 2024.
