Kaito indexes what is being said about crypto projects across social platforms and ranks the accounts saying it, producing a public leaderboard of who is actually shaping a given conversation.

The February 2025 distribution followed that logic rather than the usual one. Instead of rewarding transaction volume or capital deposited, allocations went to accounts that had ranked well on those leaderboards, turning written contribution into the qualifying activity.

It gave a name to a pattern that spread quickly afterwards, with a number of projects running their own leaderboard campaigns through Kaito ahead of their launches.
