About BadgerDAO

BadgerDAO set out to bring Bitcoin into DeFi, building vaults and products for people holding wrapped BTC on Ethereum rather than for the usual stablecoin and ETH crowd.

The December 2020 distribution followed that thesis closely. Rather than reward its own users, which it barely had yet, Badger looked for wallets already holding Bitcoin on Ethereum through WBTC, renBTC or tBTC, and extended allocations to members of DeFi communities it expected to overlap with.

It is an early example of an airdrop used to recruit a specific audience rather than to thank an existing one.
