Optimism (OP)

For most people, yes — but the timing of the launch made it complicated.

• The Airdrop 1 allocation ranged from 409 OP to 27,534 OP depending on how many criteria a wallet met and the overlap bonuses earned. At the $1.40 opening price, that was $572 to $38,547 per wallet. The 248,699 eligible wallets received an average of approximately 863 OP each, worth $1,208 at launch.
• The problem was timing. OP launched in late May 2022, directly into one of the worst crypto market downturns in years. The token fell 71% from its opening price to a June low of $0.40 within weeks. Many recipients who did not sell immediately at open watched their allocation lose the majority of its value before recovering.
• Those who held into the March 2024 bull run, when OP hit its all-time high of $4.84, received strong returns. A 863 OP average allocation was worth $4,177 at ATH — a 3.4x return on the opening price value.
• The more important legacy of the Optimism airdrop is its multi-round model. Unlike Uniswap's one-time drop, Optimism has continued rewarding users through five airdrop rounds, each targeting different behaviour: governance participation, Superchain usage, NFT activity, and public goods contribution. Users who stayed engaged and continued using the network have received multiple allocations over three years.
